Homemade onion dip is easier than you think to make! This has been a favorite for us ever since childhood and a yummy snack while we dated and early in our marriage. But when we started eating cleaner, we found that the onion soup mix didn’t have the greatest ingredients. We basically just stopped eating it. We started thinking about the dip again and I thought I would try to make some. I looked into the ingredients in the onion soup mix and ordered some “healthier” potato chips that were non-GMO and made with avocado oil and salt.

I actually didn’t have any beef bullion as the onion soup mix has, but I thought I would try to make it anyways. Surprisingly, it turned out really well without the beef bullion and we were really pleased with it! You can definitely add some if you find it lacking in flavor.

That’s the great thing about making things at home, you can add different spices if you want to! Some parsley or chives could add a little more/different onion flavor, but the sour cream is your canvas! I have a friend that uses wild ramps (plant with an onion/garlic flavor) to make her onion dip. You can also saute fresh onions and make a dip that way! I used to make a warm onion dip with fresh onions! The world is your oyster!

We have tried Nancy’s sour cream recently and really like it! It makes us feel like our dip is healthier since it has probiotics! And hey, if its healthier than normal, you can eat more!
