Homemade Nutella is a delicious treat! Nutella has always been one of my favorites, but I disliked all the extra ingredients in it. We tried the organic versions, which were slightly better, but expensive. I decided I would just make it myself and it did not disappoint! If you are a hazelnut and chocolate lover, you will probably love this homemade Nutella as well!

Some items to assist in making this recipe:
KitchenAid KFP0718CU Food Processor, 7 Cup
Happy Village Organic Roasted Hazelnuts, 16 OZ Resealable Pack (nuts.com is another great place to get nuts, we got our organic dry roasted peanuts from there to make peanut butter)
Anthony’s Organic Cocoa Powder, 2 lb
Viva Naturals Organic Cacao Powder, 1lb
Enjoy Life Semi Sweet Chocolate Mini Chips, 10 oz
Wholesome Sweeteners, Organic Powdered Sugar, 1 lb

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 1 dry roasted hazelnuts

  • 1 cup 1 semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

  • 1/2 cup 1/2 powdered sugar

  • 2-3 tablespoons 2-3 avocado oil or neutral oil of your choice

  • 2 tablespoons 2 cacao or cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon 1 vanilla extract

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 kosher sea salt

Directions

  • If your hazelnuts are not roasted:
Spread hazelnuts on a baking sheet and roast for 10-12 minutes at 350F or until the skins start to crack.
Once roasted, let the hazelnuts cool slightly and then rub them with a kitchen towel to remove the skins.
  • Place hazelnuts in the food processor to blend until they are a smooth, creamy butter.
    Scrape down sides as necessary.
    It may take several minutes.
  • Melt chocolate in a double broiler or in the microwave at 30 second intervals.
  • Add the melted chocolate and remaining ingredients to the food processor.
Blend until well combined and smooth.
  • Taste and adjust sweetness if needed by adding more sugar.
Adjust thickness by adding more oil if necessary.
  • Transfer to a mason jar to store.

Notes

  • I stored my Homemade Nutella in the fridge initially and it was hard when I took it out to use. If you will use it quickly, leave it on the counter. If you won’t use it quickly, store it in the fridge, but take it out ahead of time to soften.
