This easy wonton soup recipe will be a game changer in your home! I searched long and hard to make a great tasting, but not so time consuming wonton soup over the years. It is a family favorite and while I enjoy cooking great foods, I don’t always have a lot of time in the kitchen.

To make things simpler, I stopped wrapping my wontons. Perhaps this is just meatball soup then haha, but they sure do taste like wontons. The lack of the wrapper, is made up by including the noodles, which works perfectly for our family. If you want to wrap each wonton, by all means, go ahead! But if you are in a time crunch, like I usually am, I use a cookie scoop to form my meatballs onto a tray w/ parchment paper (for easy clean up)

We hope you give our easy wonton soup recipe a try! If you do, please leave a comment and rating below and let us know how you like it!

Ingredients

  • 1 pound 1 ground pork

  • 1 pound 1 shrimp, tail off, peeled

  • 2 tablespoons 2 avocado oil

  • 2 tablespoons 2 shaoxing rice wine

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon 1 1/2 kosher sea salt

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon 1 1/2 sugar

  • 1 teaspoon 1 sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon 1 cornstarch

  • 1/4 teaspoon 1/4 white pepper

  • 1 pound 1 egg noodles

  • 8 cups 8 chicken broth, low sodium

  • 1 package 1 wonton wrappers, optional

Directions

  • Place all the ingredients (except the noodles, broth, and wrappers) into a food processor.
Mix well for about 5 minutes until it is a smooth paste.

If you do not have a food processor, chop the shrimp into small pieces and then you can mix it together by hand for about 10 minutes.
  • If using wrappers, put about a teaspoon of filling in each wrapper.
Use water to seal the edges and fold into a triangle.

If not using wrappers (much quicker), scoop out the filling into about 1 tablespoon scoop and place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bring a large pot of broth to a boil.
Add the noodles to the broth.
Add the wontons to the broth.
    Cook for 4-5 minutes.
The wontons will float when they are done cooking.
You can cut one open to check to make sure there is no more pink inside.
  • Divide noodles, wontons, and broth into bowls and serve!
You can add extra white pepper, sesame oil, green onions, chili oil, etc if you want to add some extra flavor or serve on the side for people to customize their own bowls.

Notes

  • You can easily store wontons in the freezer after making them. I usually freeze them in a single layer on a cookie sheet and then place them in a ziplock bag. Whenever you are ready to cook them, just add to boiling broth!
