Our big motivation to do a clover lawn is to reduce the mowing maintenance. We really don’t want to spend all our time mowing, which yields less fruit than gardening and growing food. Here are several advantages to switching to a clover lawn:

You’ll see lots of opinions on the ‘perfect’ ratio of clover. Don’t sweat it too much. Achieving a balance of white and micro clover should lead to a successful, low-maintenance lawn. A recommended seeding ratio is approximately:
- White Clover (Trifolium repens): up to 10 pounds per acre.
- Mini Clover (Trifolium repens var. Pipolina): up to 2 pounds per acre.

We spread our clover behind the mower with our Agri-Fab 45-0463 130-Pound Tow Behind Broadcast Spreader. We chose for seed the Outsidepride White Dutch Clover Seed – 50 LB bag and the White MiniClover 1 LB bag. You’ll see in the video for approximately 1 acre we used 10 LB of the White clover bag and only 1/5 of the mini-clover seed bag. These are tiny seeds so just barely opening the spreader to it’s lowest setting was more than enough to spread the seed properly. See the Videos Below to see how we did it.
